Trichotillomania (Hair Pulling)

Trichotillomania, often known as ‘hair-pulling disorder,’ is a condition where a person feels an irresistible urge to pull out their hair. It commonly affects the scalp, eyebrows, or eyelashes, and for many people, it becomes a coping mechanism linked to stress, anxiety, or moments of emotional overwhelm.

Hair pulling is not a choice, and it is not something to be ashamed of. It is a real condition - one that can impact confidence, self-esteem, and daily life.

Many people feel isolated or embarrassed by their pulling habits, even though it is far more common than most realise.

You deserve understanding, support, and a safe space to talk about your experience

My Personal Experience with Trichotillomania

I appreciate exactly how challenging trichotillomania can be because I have experienced it myself. In the past, I struggled with pulling my own hair and I understand the cycle of relief, frustration, and regret that often comes with it.

This personal experience allows me to work with complete empathy. I understand the emotional side of trichotillomania as well as the physical effects and that is why I approach every client with sensitivity, privacy, and genuine care.

How I Help My Clients With Trichotillomania

My method focuses on restoring the appearance of fullness whilst also offering practical, personal support to help reduce the pulling. I create my own, handmade keratin bonds that are carefully placed in the areas where you tend to pull the most.

How Keratin Bonds Support Trichotillomania Clients

  • They cover and protect the areas most affected by pulling

  • The bonds act as a gentle physical reminder not to pull

  • They make it harder to access the natural hair, helping break the pulling cycle

  • They blend naturally, restoring confidence and reducing stress-related triggers

  • They are lightweight and safe for fragile or regrowth areas

This technique not only enhances the look of your hair - but it also provides ongoing support as you work toward reducing or stopping your pulling habits.

Every set of bonds is custom-made to ensure comfort, discretion, and a seamless, natural appearance.

A safe, compassionate experience

I appreciate how vulnerable it can feel to discuss trichotillomania. Many of my clients have never spoken openly about it before coming to see me.

From me, you can expect:

  • Complete privacy

  • A calming, judgment-free environment

  • Kindness and understanding

  • A personalised plan that respects your emotional wellbeing

  • A gentle approach that protects your natural hair

You are not alone in this journey, and I am here to support you with both care and expertise.
